Ms. Renee Babin
Hello and welcome to my page. Reading is a lifelong passion of mine and I enjoy sharing my love of reading with my Title I reading students. This is my 6th year as a Woodlawn Riverhawk and my 11th year teaching in Lawrence Public Schools. I moved to Lawrence to attend graduate school at KU in 2007 where I earned a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction along with attaining my license to be a reading specialist. Before moving to Lawrence I taught middle school English Language Arts for a total of 10 years in California and New Mexico. I enjoyed being a middle school teacher but decided that my real passion is teaching younger students how to read. Not only do I love helping students learn how to read, I also love learning how to be a better teacher. In 2017 I completed coursework for Orton-Gillingham, which is an approach to teaching students with dyslexia. Other than teaching reading, I love cooking, trail running, funny movies, and playing board games (especially Scrabble!).
