I teach Lifetime Sports, Ball Sports and Fitness 2. I have also taught Health 9, swimming 1 and 2, First Aid and CPR, Intro to Health Careers and weight training. I coach varsity football in the fall and varsity baseball in the spring.   I have been teaching and coaching at this great institution since 2005. I have an undergraduate degree in sociology from Kansas State University. I received my teaching degree in health and P.E. from the University of Kansas. Mine is a house divided!!  I have 2 daughters that graduated from LHS.  One graduated in 2013 and one graduated in 2016.  My wife is a nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.  She has been working there for 10 years.  She also just started a non profit agency called Let's Talk.  We have two pitbull mixed dogs that occupy our time and keep us busy.  

I enjoy bringing some of my personal experiences to my teaching. One of the best quotes I have heard is that “no student cares what you know until they know you care”.   Letting students peek in to some of my personal experiences creates a bond between us and allows them to relax and open their minds to some of the content.

I teach because of the bond that is shared with students and co- workers. Relationships that form between students and teachers are special. I still share some of these relationships with my former teachers. This is why I teach. Relationships.
