Welcome to seventh grade! I'm looking forward to another year with a fantastic group. I hope you’re ready, too! I’d like to take a minute to tell you a little bit about myself.
It’s hard to believe this will be my 19th year as a teacher. I enjoy the creativity that comes along with teaching. We do a lot of fun assignments connected with our reading and writing such as podcasts, super hero smackdown, and choice laden work. Another thing I enjoy about my career is the learning never stops. I hope to be a good role model in the classroom this year as I continue to learn how to meaningfully incorporate apps into our curriculum, and build our class in Powerschool. There will be times when we tap away on iPads, turn pages of books, and pick up pencils and actually write!
Outside of the classroom I’m a pretty active person. I'm taking a break from coaching tennis at BMMS, but still play often. I’m also a fan of long bike rides-15 miles, lots of hills, sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon! I run a little and do yoga when I can squeeze it in. Despite all of this, I’m much better at watching basketball than I am at playing it!
When I’m not in the classroom or on the tennis court, I’m usually with my family. My husband and I have two boys, Asher and Evan. Asher will be a SW bulldog this year, loves being an Aquahawk, devours chapter books, and has a serious grump face that rivals any old man’s. Evan is entering fourth grade and will do anything to make you laugh. One of his first sentences as a toddler was, “Want me do again?” after he did a stunt that elicited laughter from onlookers. They keep me on my toes and laughing. I enjoy telling stories of my boys often; you’ll feel like you know them by the end of the year.
I am looking forward to starting the year with all of you. It’s going to be great!
