Hello! I am excited to serve as the Kindergarten Special Education Resource Teacher at Schwegler Elementary School for the 2024 - 2025 school year. My mission is to ensure that every student gets an equal opportunity to learn and grow, and I'm passionate about advocating for the strongest support for our students with special needs.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Haskell Indian Nations University in 2017. I then earned my English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement at Kansas State University in 2019. Continuing my education, I completed my Master of Education in Special Education with a specialization in Behavior Supports at the University of Oregon in 2021.
With 12 years of experience in the field of education and 7 years as a certified public school educator, I've worked as both a resource teacher and an elementary teacher, focusing on helping students with diverse needs. In my career thus far, I have had the privilege to support students diagnosed with that of Other Health Impairment, ADHD, Developmental Delay, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and others. In my current role, I manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), working closely with families, related service providers, and general education teachers to provide the best possible support for our students. I also have experience with assessments that help us understand each child's unique strengths and areas for growth.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic year, supporting our kindergarteners and making a positive impact on our school community!
