My experience teaching in Lawrence began in the late '80s when I worked in an intervention setting. I started my classroom teaching career working with kindergarteners. After five fun-filled years, I moved to 3rd grade and later to gifted education. I taught as the lone gifted facilitator in a K-12 setting for two years before returning to Lawrence in 2014. Working at various levels was a great experience, but I enjoyed focusing on elementary gifted education. I appreciate the opportunity to help formulate academic ambition and ownership in learning at an early educational stage. I feel strongly that this is the key to a gifted student's realization of their full potential.

At home, I garden, sew and experiment in the kitchen. My spouse is a federal scientist. He has an interesting job and often travels all over the world. I enjoy hearing of his adventures but am content to stay behind. My children are grown and married, so I fill my empty nest with my beloved pets.
