Kansas School District Payroll & Organization

  • The information below identifies openly available resources regarding Kansas school district payroll and administrative organization. The list below includes the state's 18 largest school districts. Lawrence Public Schools is the seventh-largest school district by enrollment in Kansas.

For each school district, the chart provides enrollment and payroll information from the Kansas OpenGov database. Payroll listings are from Kansas Open Record Requests and are on a school year basis (July 2020-June 2021 shown). They include all compensation (salary, wages, bonuses, overtime, supplemental pay, car allowances, etc). Employee benefits are not included. Individuals may access additional school years via the filters provided on the website.

Links to district organizational charts or district leadership team directories are also provided below. In order to provide a more comprehensive identification of administrative organization, some links to department webpages are included. Select departmental links within school district websites to learn more about each district’s organizational structure, including titles, roles, and responsibilities, as these vary widely from district to district.

Please note that a challenge in making comparisons among school districts is that there can be wide disparities in administrators' contract days, full- or part-time status, education and career experience, and years of service in the position, as well as in districts' budget per pupil, which can impact salaries.
