Secondary Social Studies

Middle School
All students at the middle school level are required to take a year- long, daily course in social studies at each grade level.

Middle school social studies is entering into the curriculum review process this school year. Units of study will be aligned with the KS HGSS Standards and reflect use of culturally sustaining teaching practices.
Middle School Social Studies Assessment
Students at the 7th grade level will participate in the new KS HGSS Assessment. This assessment is designed around the inquiry-based model of teaching. Students will pose a compelling question, develop a hypothesis, and support their claim.
High School
All high school students must have 3 units of history and government to graduate. Students are required to take Modern World History (full year), US History (full year), a semester of US Government, and a semester elective (psychology, geography, ancient world history, East Asian studies, economics, African American history, Latin American History, Native American history).
