• What is Florida Virtual School (FLVS)?

    Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is an online public school district in Florida.  FLVS Global, offers online digital content organized into courses. These courses have been aligned to Kansas State Curriculum Standards.  Courses are hosted by the district's learning management system (LMS), Schoology, and taught by USD 497 teachers.

    What is the expectation for USD 497 staff?

    Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Global elementary online courses were purchased for all elementary students, regardless of whether teachers are teaching in a remote, distance, hybrid, or face-to-face model.  These resources were purchased with Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and are only available for the 2020-21 school year.  These resources are supplemental to current USD 497 adopted resources.  Teachers are not required to use these resources.

    How can teachers and students access the resources?

    What professional development is available for Florida Virtual School (FLVS)?

    There are two types of professional development resources available for teachers who would like to use the Florida Virtual School content with their students. Please note, prior to using FLVS content teachers must have completed one of the following courses:  Schoology for Master Instructors, New to Schoology? - The Basics for Online Learning- Early Adopters or Getting Started with Schoology - Full Elementary.  Once completed, teachers should watch the following short video to add FLVS content to Schoology.

FLVS and Kansas Standards
