  • The Lawrence Special Education Advisory Committee
    (L-SEAC) is made up of USD 497 parents and staff members. Committee meetings function as a forum for open communication and advocacy. The role of this committee is to encourage and facilitate communication and mutual support among family, school, and the community.

  • Upcoming Events

    Our next L-SEAC meeting for the 2022-23 school year will be August 2, 2022.  This month's meeting was cancelled due to the elections today and coordinating events for the new school year 22-23.

    The Sunflower Summer Program, funded by federal COVID-19 money to offer summer enrichment activities for Kansas students, will launch May 28 and run through Aug. 14. During this time, adults can visit to learn more about the program, including a full list of participating venues and FAQs.

  • The Mission of the Council is to represent the needs and interests of students with exceptionalities. In addition, it will advise the special education department on program needs; review parental concerns of a programmatic nature; and serve as a conduit and advocate for educating consumers about what constitutes special education.
