Sign up for the Lawrence Kansas Police Department's Summer Police Camp. LKPD is offering two three-day sessions this year: June 26-28 or July 10-12. Camp is from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m.-noon on Friday. Led by our school resource officers for children ages 9-13, campers will meet our K-9 and drone teams, see bomb detection robots, learn about fingerprinting, and so much more. The last day’s touch-a-truck event is always a great time for families to attend. Officers fire up the grill and cook burgers and hot dogs for everyone. Our partners from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Services bring in their trucks and other friends provide a special fly-in experience. Total cost is $30 per child, which covers Friday’s lunch, snacks throughout camp, an LKPD water bottle to keep the kids hydrated, a camp T-shirt, and other expenses.
