    Parking
    Student Parking 
    Students may not park in areas with blue lines, these are for staff.
    A parking permit is required to park in the LHS Student Lot.
    Parking permits available in the Finance Office

     Parents/guardians should call 785-330-4968 or email lhsattendance@usd497.org to let us know when your student is late or absent. If  you need your student out for an appointment, please call 2 hours in advance.

  • Temperature and Your Device!

    LPS Technology Services reminds you not to leave your device in your car (even inside your garage)  overnight or for any length of time. Serious damage can occur within minutes in cold or hot temperatures. Temperatures inside your car will be higher than the temperature outside! If a device is inadvertently left out in cold or hot temperatures, allow at least an hour for it to acclimate to prevent condensation inside before you attempt to use it.

    calendarUSING A ROOM OR FACILITY AT LHS

    The use of an athletic facility, classroom, or room within the building requires advance approval of a  facility use request form by an LHS Administrator and USD 497 Facilities and Operations. Submit the completed and signed form to the LHS main office for approval. If approved, it will be forwarded to Facilities and Operations for final approval. Fees may be assessed by Facilities and Operations. Reservation request forms are available in the Main Office and in the Athletics Office.

Attendance

  •    Attendance Counts

    Call the Attendance Line at 785-330-4968 or email lhsattendance@usd497.org to report an absence or check a student out during the school day.

    Please allow a minimum of two hours to excuse students during the school day.

    Students will be released by their teacher only when notified by a pass from the office. 

    Please leave a message if you get voicemail or you may email lhsattendance@usd497.org. Both voicemail and email are monitored continuously during business hours.   

    Only parent(s)/legal guardian(s) listed in PowerSchool may excuse students. Students may not excuse themselves or check themselves out.

    Students who are ill must first check out through the Health Office in Room 140. The School Nurse, Carol Casteel, will contact the Parent/Guardian and inform the office staff that the student is checking out. The Health Office line is 785-330-2704.

    Harassment is conduct which solely on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, disablity, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity: 
    • affords a student different treatment in a manner which interferes with or limits the ability of the student to participate in or benefit from the services, activities or programs of the school; or
    • subjects a student to treatment which is sufficiently severe, pervasive, or persistent so as to have the purpose or effect of creating a hostile environment or of interfering with a student's performance or ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or programs of the school. 

    Bullying is any act that recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental health, physical health, or safety of a student or that substantially interferes with a student's educational benefits, and that takes place on or immediately adjacent to district grounds, at any district-sponsored activity, on district-sponsored transportation, or at any district bus stop. 

    Cyberbullying means threats or harassment on the internet through web pages, email, instant messaging, text messaging, or by other electronic means. 

    Hazing is any act that recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental health, physical health, or safety of a student for the purpose of initiation or as a condition or precondition of attaining membership in, or affiliation with, any district-sponsored activity or grade-level attainment. 

     

    ALICE Information: ALICE strategies for use in the event of an intruder. All employees are provided ALICE training by the district. 

     

Technology

  • All LHS students are provided a Macintosh computer for school use.

    The High School Tech Guide will help you with common computer issues.

    If you need to update your contact information in PowerSchool, please contact the school, 785-832-5050. If there is a change in your physical address, you will need to visit the school and provide the required proof of residency.

    Although a parent account is not required, it provides parents with many advantages, including real-time grades and attendance, and ways to communicate with teachers. If you need assistance creating your account, please contact the PowerSchool Team at 785-330-4300 for assistance.
