Mrs. Deborah Woodall Routledge

Mrs. Woodall Routledge has been teaching band for 29 years.  She has taught in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas and has been teaching at Southwest Middle School since it opened in 1995.  Mrs. Woodall Routledge has received numerous awards including the 2019 Lawrence Educator of the Year (Golden Apple) Award, the 2019 Northeast Kansas Music Educator Association's Elementary Band Director of the Year Award (6th grade), the 2017 Educator Impact Award given by the Lied Center of Kansas, and the 2014 Northeast Kansas Music Educator Association's Middle School Band Director of the Year Award.  Under her direction, the Band has received superior ratings at all music festivals including many 1st place awards at the prestigious regional Worlds of Fun Band Competition.  In 2000, the Southwest Band was invited to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Conference.  Mrs. Woodall Routledge co-teaches 6th and 7th grade band with Mrs. Stacy Lendt.  Mrs. Woodall Routledge also coaches Girl's tennis in the Fall and Boy's tennis in the Spring.
