  • Back to School for 2020-2021: The district is working hard to have a plan in place for the beginning of the school year to keep all of our families safe while having a great year of learning. 

    Fall planning - Note from the Superintendent: School to Start with Distance Learning

    School will start on September 8th This will provide time to have staff professional development and preparation for the roll out of our initial 6 week virtual learning in order to keep students and staff safe while learning. Virtual parent/teacher conferences will occur prior to the start of school, August 31-September 3. The board also directed that the school year begin with six weeks of 100% distance learning to be evaluated with public health data on September 28.

    Not Returning in the fall? Notify the office and have your student's new school send the Records Request to Sandra Sola at so that we can forward them your student's school records when our office opens in August.

    Kindergarten Enrollment - We are excited to welcome our incoming kindergarten students for the fall! We are currently enrolling 2020-2021 kindergarten children who reach age 5 on or before Aug 31, 2020. Click the blue link to begin the on-line Enrollment Process.

    If you have enrollment or annual registration questions, you may contact the Lawrence Public School Enrollment Center:  / 785-330-1921 / 110 McDonald Dr.  Lawrence, KS  66044     Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm. In person visits will be by appointment only.

  • Kindergarten Families: 

    We are so excited to begin gearing up for the 2020-2021 school year and cannot wait to meet our new Bobcats. We look forward to partnering with your family as we create the foundation for a positive educational journey.  

    Please be sure that you have completed all the steps below so that your student will be all set to start school:  

    1. Be sure that you have registered your student and turned in all of the required documents (see above under Enrollment for details) 
    1. Complete the Kindergarten Family Questionnaire by July 15th 
    1. Bring in your student's original certified birth certificate and current physical record to the school office in August (More details to come)

    Summer Counseling

    A district counselor will be available during the summer of 2020 to assist with meeting the social-emotional needs of students and provide families information about community resources. Office Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays, 3-5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-Noon. Please call Lawrence Public Schools at 785-832-5000 to access summer counseling services. In the event of an emergency, dial 911. ~Jose Cornejo, mental health facilitator 



    Summer Meals

    The Summer Food Service Program offers curbside meals to children every weekday from a variety of schools and park locations this summer. (All sites closed July 3.)  


    Summer Learning

    Check out the Elementary Summer Learning website! Middle schools are exploring continued access to Google Classroom. High school summer school credit recovery programs will be held online June 1-26 for qualifying students. Unless they are not returning to the district, students are encouraged to keep their devices this summer and keep on learning! 


    Summer Reading

    We encourage students of all ages to participate in the Lawrence Public Library's Summer Reading Program. Take a look at this video and go to the library's website to track your summer reading.
