Heather Lofflin, M.S.E., Curriculum & Teaching

The beginning of the 2024-2025 school year marks my 19th year of serving in education. I have had many different roles, including paraprofessional, Instructional Support Assistant in reading, Second Grade teacher, Fifth Grade teacher, interventionist, and my current role as a Fourth Grade teacher.

But, that’s not all – both of my own children attended Hillcrest (they are now adults), so I also have the perspective of a parent. I guess I’ve been a part of the Hillcrest community for over 20 years!

I consider myself a life-long learner. My philosophy is to treat every child as an individual and to find the spark that inspires each of them to learn. I define success as growth rather than a particular test score, pushing all students to learn new skills by setting high expectations. I strive to create a classroom “family” where all students feel accepted and safe. I believe positive praise is powerful. Of course, I also try to mix in a little fun and humor!

Please feel free to contact me throughout the school year if you have questions, concerns, or something special you would like me to know about your child. Let’s have a great year!
