Ruby Bridges Day

We are only 65 years removed from the day six-year-old Ruby Bridges was escorted by four federal marshals as she walked into an all-white school in Louisiana. Ruby's journey was an essential step towards the long overdue desegregation of schools and upholding of the right to education which belongs to every child.

Over 1,100 students throughout Lawrence Public Schools are directly impacted by the recent loss of federal food assistance. This November, our schools are mobilizing to help fill the gap for children and families in need.
