Applications Available for Finance Advisory Council Membership
Lawrence Public Schools encourage community members with expertise and experience in accounting, auditing and/or financial reporting and an interest in serving on the Lawrence Board of Education’s Finance Advisory Council (FAC) to complete an application by April 1, 2015. FAC Committee Guidelines and a Membership Application are available on the district’s website (www.usd497.org). The FAC monitors financial issues and trends facing the district, provides advice to the superintendent and school board and helps communicate district financial matters to the community.

Hey guys…do you like learning about different cultures from all over the world? Do you love to eat? If you answered “yes” to these two questions, International Club is for you! See Ms. Lotton-Barker in the ER East (room 203 – across from the library) if you have questions or if you might like to serve as a guest chef and teach us to cook up some scrumptious cross-cultural treats.

Kansas regulations require that districts develop and implement written policies to govern the use of Emergency Safety Interventions in all schools. Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) is defined as seclusion and restraint that is used when the student presents an immediate danger to self or others. Lawrence Public School’s Board of Education adopted an ESI policy (GAAF) on October 28, 2013 which is available on the district's website. The policy will also be available on the building websites and online handbooks as of November 14, 2014. If you need a hard copy of the ESI policy, please contact your building principal.
