Classes will dismiss at 11:25 on Friday for the winter break and will resume on January 6.

Auditions for the Spring Play The Secret Garden are just around the corner!    Actors: Please prepare a 1-minute monologue and sign up for a 5 minute time slot on the board outside the auditorium.  Auditions will be Monday January 12th-Wednesday January 14th. You only need to sign up for 1 5-minute block of time on one of those days.

Actors and Crew: Audition and Crew forms as well as contracts will be available after break. You can pick up your paperwork from Mrs. Neuteboom any time after January 6th.

Students, please take a few minutes to check out the lost and found in the entryway.  All lost and found items will be donated to charity during the winter break, so now is your chance to find any items you may have lost during 1st semester.  Jewelry, electronics and glasses are in the office.

Join the SW Book Club for the final Hobbit film on Thursday, December 18, immediately after school.  The film starts at 3:45 and we’ll do our customary Culvers Chat immediately after with a 7:30 pick-up time.  If you’d like to join the book club on this adventure, sign up in the library and pick up a permission slip.  We hope to see you there!

Southwest T-shirts ($15.00) and sweatshirts ($20.00) are available in the office.  There are also Southwest lanyards for $2.00 and a few select shirts and shorts for $5.00.

  • Kansas regulations require that districts develop and implement written policies to govern the use of Emergency Safety Interventions in all schools.  Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) is defined as seclusion and restraint that is used when the student presents an immediate danger to self or others.  Lawrence Public School’s Board of Education adopted an ESI policy (GAAF) on October 28, 2013 which is available on the district's website.  The policy will also be available on the building websites and online handbooks as of November 14, 2014. If you need a hard copy of the ESI policy, please contact your building principal.
