Partnership With Health Care Access To Benefit Public Schools Marathon Clubs
Health Care Access and the Lawrence Schools Foundation have partnered together to raise additional funding for the Lawrence Public Schools Marathon Clubs. The funds will help the Foundation and the Lawrence Public Schools goal of expanding the Marathon Clubs, which includes providing a sustainable fitness opportunity for students and their families either before or after school. The Kansas Half Marathon/5k, an event that is organized by Health Care Access, will donate one-dollar to the club for every participant that registers for either the half marathon or 5k using the promo code USD497.
"This is an incredible opportunity for our students. Our goal is to introduce more kids to running in a fun, positive way that will set them on the path for a healthy, physically active lifestyle not only at school, but at home and within the community," said Dena Johnston, Executive Director of the Lawrence Schools Foundation.
"We are excited to use our signature event to raise money, awareness and promote healthy living in this new partnership with USD 497’s Marathon Club. Healthy behaviors are a key to a healthier community, and we are pleased to partner with our schools," said Beth Llewellyn, CEO of Health Care Access.
The race will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Watson Park. The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m., with the 5k starting at 7:45 a.m. For more information or to register for the race visit kansashalfmarathon.com
