Quality teaching and effective instruction are essential if our mission of education is to be fulfilled. Through the Peer Assistant Program, Peer Mentoring and Professional Development, Lawrence Public Schools provide all staff resources and support in relation to their professional goals.

Peer Mentoring Program

Lawrence Public Schools and the Lawrence Education Association jointly developed an induction process to provide support to new teachers.

All teachers new to Lawrence Public Schools are considered participants in the program and will be matched with a mentor. The district matches teachers new to both the profession and Lawrence Public Schools with both a mentor and a peer assistant. These new teachers are considered novice teachers.
