Greetings from the Superintendent
Welcome to Lawrence Public Schools!
I’m proud to be serving the Lawrence community as your superintendent of schools. Lawrence Public Schools have a tradition of high academic standards and a focus on individual student's success. This school district is known across the state, and the country, for outstanding academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. I’m impressed with the hard work of the school board, administrators, educators and support staff members who make this happen.
There's also room for improvement. My goal is to help move this district forward. As you may be aware, we have several initiatives in place this year as a result of school board goals to raise the achievement of all students, while closing achievement gaps. You may read more about the board goals online.
To share a little bit of my background, I served 35 years as a school administrator and teacher in Louisburg, Rock Creek, McPherson, Wamego and Herington before joining the Lawrence Public Schools. I also taught for two years as an associate professor at Kansas State University. My wife, Gayle, and I have raised three sons: Jake is a second-year resident at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Caleb is a doctoral student at Vanderbilt and Jesse recently graduated from the University of Denver.
It is my belief that every organization can improve; I’m eager to lead this process of improvement for Lawrence Public Schools. Please join me in taking this district to the next level of excellence in student achievement.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rick Doll
Superintendent of Schools
